The Weekend in a Nutshell

This weekend was full of great things (although not always good for my health).

Saturday I finally got a cell phone! Jon and Krista helped me out with this which was great. We went to Techno Mart and the 4th floor contained just an endless amount of phones. We picked a phone and got a "pay as you go" type thing. Although I don't love my phone, I'll only have it for 11 months so it'll do. There is no T9 though which is a major pain. Oh, and I found out last night that sometimes I just don't receive my text messages...so that's a pain as well. I had grand thoughts of this phone solving all my communication problems, but really it's just gonna add to them.

Saturday night was all you can eat steak at Brasilia. The basis is you pay 33,000 won and you get unlimited side dishes, steak and a glass of red wine. They bring you out three different steaks (one at a time) and you eat them all... then you can choose which one(s) you want more of. There are also unlimited side dishes like rice, potatoes and salad. The steaks aren't the huge steaks we are used to back in Canada. Overall it was great though, didn't eat all day so was sure to bring my appetite. There were 7 of us for dinner and only 3 of us didn't eat prior to coming (Jon, Krista and I)... the rest missed the memo. I figure if you're going to be paying that kinda cash you better make sure it's a good deal.

After steak we went to a bar called Woodstock and drank way too many pitchers of beer. There were a ton of foreigners and pretty decent music.

Sunday I wasn't feeling the hottest, mostly lazy... I blame all the beef. So we hung out at Jon and Krista's watched some tv and they made some chocolate chip cookies... these cookies were a much better success than the last time. I left around 2:30 and got home about 5:00.

At 6:00 I received a call from my boss (who had apparently been calling me "all day") and had to go in to school to record something. He told me it would only take 5 minutes... it took 40. Nice. But whatever. A friend then met me at my subway station and we went for some dinner and ice cream. We were then approached by a sketchy guy trying to ask for money for the "phone"... right... i knew what he was saying immediately but played dumb. When my friend figured it out he eventually gave him 100 won (about 10 cents) and we left. So basically I am a jerk and my friend is nice.

That's all folks. Nothing touristy this weekend. Just stuffed my body with nothing but horrible things. Looks like it could be a potentially busy week coming up this week with after work dinner and/or drinks booked for almost every night already.

(oh and I am aware of the outcome of the Grey Cup. I feel for you Saskatchewan. I was sad myself and I'm across the world. I'm glad that I wasn't there. I suspect the streets of Regina will be filled with tears)
