I have been asked now in multiple different emails why I haven't posted anything for a few days. Apparently you guys are spoiled with my daily posts. To be honest I didn't think people needed to hear my everyday activities, but apparently I was wrong.
The two things to mention are that I have gone out the past two nights. On Wednesday I met up with a guy and we went for chicken and beer and had a deliciously huge pitcher of beer with the tiniest of glasses. I have a picture but haven't put it on the computer yet, I'll add it later. It was good times though. Nice to have midweek drinks.
Last night I went back to the same area (Bupyeong) and met up with a different guy and went to a bar for trivia. We have a mutual friend who was there so I talked to her for awhile as well. Trivia had started before I got there so we just sat and drank and talked about the past month (we arrived around the same time). Our experiences couldn't have been any different. Nice guy though, and down with the extreme stuff like bungee jumping, whitewater rafting and sky diving... so I may have found a partner in crime for those activities.
I also got in trouble at work yesterday. I actually worked my full 6 hours and then was asked to stay late. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but I had to meet my new friend and had no way to call and tell him I would be late. I stayed for only ten minutes but then said I had a meeting and left. This is not how things work in Korea. Here, if you are asked to stay late at the last minute, you stay late...you do not say no. My boss even got mad at me and said "IT IS NOT THE WEEKEND!" ... true... but it is night time and I am supposed to be done at 8:20 so I made plans. I offered to come in to work early today to do what they needed (record a speech on to a cassette tape so that a girl can memorize it). Hopefully that will smooth things over... but not likely.
Hopefully tomorrow I will get a cell phone... I am sure that this mystical cell phone will solve all my problems.
