Life in the 3 Block pt. 1

Ridiculous things always seem to happen to me at my apartment building so I've decided to start a post called "Life in the 3 Block", It will be on going to update you on just what I deal with on almost a daily basis.

I had trouble getting to sleep last night so had planned to sleep in quite late today. Around 9:00am a loud Korean voice came over some sort of speaker in my apartment. I presumed it was in everyone's apartment. Obviously not knowing what it said I rolled over and went back to bed.

15 minutes pass and there is loud banging at my door. I stumble in a daze to the door and open it to find a Korean woman with some sort of spraying contraption. She starts speaking Korean and I look at her as if to say "Do I look like I speak fucking Korean?"... normally my look is much nicer, but it was morning and I didn't have time for this... there was sleep to be had. Unfazed, she kept on talking. Finally I moved to let her get by to do whatever it was she was going to do. She didn't budge. The tiny bit of patience I had wore out and I shook my head and shut my door. Now I know that I don't have whatever it is she was spraying for... my worry is that she will spray everywhere else and all those bugs will make their way to my unsprayed apartment. Damn language barrier.

About an hour later I get another knock at my door, and with  no peephole I was forced to open the door. Who was on the other side? Another woman speaking Korean, this time holding a spray bottle and scrub brush. What? really? I can't handle this. I let her come in, figuring she will just do whatever it is she is here to do. I still don't understand. I think she maybe be a cleaning lady but you have to pay her. She made her way to my kitchen and pretended to clean the counter, and then part of the floor.. presumably explaining what it is she does... and then I said "ooooohhhhh" and nodded. And then she left. So she was either a cleaning lady or there just to tell my that my place was disgusting and that I needed to clean it.... Guess what I'm doing tonight?

Also, the little man that is my building manager chased me in the the parking lot today just to say good-bye. Then he ran out when I came back tonight to ask me if I had eaten, wanted to eat, have been eating? I don't know really.. He made an eating motion and I just shot him a smile and nodded and carried on my way. This place makes me laugh.
