Too Much Walking, Not Enough Drinking

Once I left my Canadian friend I headed a few more subway stops away and met Stretch. The plan was to grab some food and then find this Western (in the geographical sense not the music sense) bar called Rhythm & Booze.

To be honest, I thought that he had at least an idea of where this bar was, and that it would be somewhat close to the subway... I make it a general rule not to go to far from the subway stop yet. That was not the case. We had to take a bus and then follow a shitty map drawn by his boss which was completely wrong.

We had decided to find the bar first and then locate a place to eat around it. This fell by the waste-side after about an hour of walking and not finding it. He doesn't eat red meat and didn't want Korean food so we were really stuck on where to go. Eventually it was a chicken place. We went in, ordered fine and had a pretty good meal. Then it was off for more walking.

I'm sure we walked for hours, how many hours I don't know. We asked a ton of people (and by "we" I mean he) and no one knew where this place was. He did have the phone number so eventually we started looking for a public phone to call and ask where the were located. I thought that was a stupid idea at first because we didn't know where we were even for them to describe how to get there. A Korean girl let us use her cell phone and then eventually got on the phone herself and talked to them in Korean. Her and her boyfriend ended up walking us right to the place (which was far and we never ever would have found it ourselves).

After all this trouble I had expected lots of foreigners. I walk in and there are 2. TWO! what? I immediately down a beer, and then another one.. and then I realize we better start heading back if I wanted to make the last subway. Especially since I knew we would get lost.

We did get lost. We walked forever and then asked people which bus would take us there. 7-3 we were told. So we sat and waited. And waited. AND WAITED. and the bus never came 50 minutes we waited. It was 11:50 by now and I thought that the public system stopped at 12:00 (now I believe it's 12:30).

Finally we hail a cab and he speeds to the station. It was awesome, I felt like I was on the Amazing Race. I get back to the station and catch the last subway....whew... I left Stretch to find his own way back to his apartment... selfish? yes... but I'm in Korea

Overall it was too much walking and not enough drinking
