Winter Wonderland... well almost

It is officially winter in Korea. Yesterday was so cold that the minute I stepped outside I hated life. That didn't stop me from having a great day though.

The Seoul area has multiple amusement parks and a group of us headed to Lotte World for the day. Lotte World is both inside and outside, however the inside rides are a lot more tame. Good for those who didn't really like the thrill-seeking rides... not good for those like myself, who gets little enjoyment unless I feel the possibility of death lurking behind every turn. Still a good time though, would like to either go back when it's warm outside or head to check out a different amusement park. The good thing about Lotte World was that with our coupon for being white we got 40% off and it only cost us 21,000 Won each. Nice.

It was decorated for Christmas and there was a parade and small shows and a big production where they made Cinderella into a Christmas musical. Now back home I am not much for Christmas, but in Korea any time I see something Christmasy it makes me smile. I think it is because it doesn't look like the North Pole threw up everywhere I turn here... and I don't hear the dreaded Christmas music everywhere that I go. During the parade though (which most of you will also know, I hate parades), I couldn't wipe the smile off of my face.

A few things to note though was that Santa in Korea is white, not Korean.... major let down. His whole face is painted red and looks kinda of creepy. Santa's helpers are sluts with skirts that barely cover their bum...only in Korea.

Now for the pictures:

The guys in the parade would wave at the small children and then see us 4 white folk (the other girl was Asian) and smile and wave directly at us... which only made it more awesome and us feel more special.

Saturday night was spent drinking a drinking beer, singing and eating. I managed to take a cab home for the first time since being in Korea, and while slurring drunk to boot! This will undoubtedly only enhance the quality of my drinking nights in Incheon.
