So while Christmas day wasn't very eventful, I feel that we made up for it on Boxing Day with our day full of activities. On Saturday my two fellow Canadian friends and I went in to Seoul to go to Coex (the large shopping mall that I had been to once before with Jon and Krista). We had two main goals: see the aquarium and eat Mexican.
First on the agenda was the aquarium.
The aquarium was okay. I had to do my best not to think about just how small the tanks were and how awful it must be for them living there. Many of the fish and sharks had chunks out of them and growths on them and it was actually really disgusting. My favorite was the seals, who were adorable. There was also a two headed turtle, a beaver, an underwater tunnel, penguins, and a bunch of sharks... just to name a few.
The great thing that happened about 5 minutes after entering the aquarium... my camera broke. Nice. I was so upset. But, what can you do. Thankfully my friends took pictures. I got a couple shots on my cell phone which make for awesome backgrounds. I then felt the need to buy a camera immediately after because I knew something worth documenting would occur and I wouldn't have a camera. I ended up getting a steal of a deal on a camera, although a shitty camera, it will do for now. I got it for about $125 dollars, which isn't to shabby. Although an expense I hadn't planned on incurring.
After the aquarium we went to On The Border (the same place that I had gone with Jon and Krista my first time to Coex). We ate delicious Mexican food and drank large beers.
We did a tiny but of shopping and tried to go up the Trade Tower to an observation floor near sunset... although apparently there is no observation floor and we ended up practically in the kitchen of a restaurant that had not yet opened for the day. Of course we made a scene and went back down.
Next on the list was this light festival that I had heard about. We take the subway and get there and it was lame...like super lame. There was a Christmas tree and a tiny little area of some hanging lights and that was it. We wandered around in the cold thinking that there had to be more... there wasn't. The area is really cute though and there is a little stream that you can walk along, if it wasn't so cold it would have been really enjoyable.
Around 7 we were spent and started the hour trek back to Incheon. We all went home, changed and met up around 10.. and that's where the start of my 3rd epic night in Korea begins....
