Seodaemun Prison

Saturday afternoon a friend and I headed to check out Seodaemun Prison. This prison was built by the Japenese during their rule near the beginning of the 20th century. There is a lot of history to the place, which of course I don't know or understand really being not much of the information was in English. The area is now officially known as Seodaemun Prison History Hall. We got to walk through some of old cells, which unfortunately have been Koreafied... and in that I mean they made it super touristy and unauthentic. For example, in the torture cells they had people being tortured, but of course they didn't look even slightly realistic and it ruined the vibe a little.

where they collected the dead bodies after the hangings and such

The area isn't large and we walking around the surrounding Independence Park as well. I got attacked by pigeons who flew so close to my head i could feel them flapping their wings. I screamed and basically fell to the ground, of course making a spectacle of myself to all the Koreans near by.
I think those pigeons on the left were the ones that attacked me after I took this shot
Independence Park, you can see Seol Tower in the background on the left too

After the Prison we went in search of Bukchon Village which is an old area in Seoul filled with houses of black roof tops. Of course finding it was difficult and we got lost. Wandering through the streets of I'm sure the nearby area was still lots of fun and we saw a few interesting sights.
Not the area we were looking for, but still neat

After all the walking we were in need of some food and a beer, so we headed to Itaewon and grabbed a bite, did a bit of shopping and then headed back to Incheon.
