Friday night a group of us met up for some drinks and darts. I'm still horrifically bad at darts, and soon no one will want to be on my team. The really good players offered to be on my team thinking that they could pull up my slack, but even they couldn't make up for my poor skills. The night was good, but the highlight came at the very end. I shared a cab with Jeff and when we got in to the cab the driver tried to talk to us in Korean but we couldn't communicate so that quickly ended. After dropping Jeff off the cabbie started up again, I decided to humor him the entire ride home and try to talk with him. A lot of laughs and a few "ne ne"s later (yes yes) I was home. The cab came to 11,000 won.. I handed him a 10,000 and a 1,000. The cabbie said "discount" and handed me back the 10,000 bill. I was sure he made a mistake and meant to give me the other bill so I handed him back the ten, that's when he yelled "DISCOUNT DISCOUNT" like I didn't understand the first time, and handed me back the 10. Well that's all I needed, I took it said thank you and ran. 1,000 won for the cab ride? Not to shabby.
Saturday a group of us went to check out the Andy Warhol exhibit at the Soul Museum of Art. It was packed. We had to stand in line outside to buy tickets (the picture on the left), then stand in line inside to get in. Then we were supposed to stand in line and be herded around... well I don't do lines well and my patience was completely gone, so a couple of us decided to skip the line and walk through on our own. It was a pretty good, but the million people that were there, combined with the heat and unventilated brought down the mood some.
Some neat looking statues outside the museum.
So there you go, I actually did something that had some culture to it, albeit not Korean culture but still. It was a good use of a Saturday afternoon. Saturday night was another messy one. I wasn't going to blog about it because you don't need to hear another drinking story, but there are too many events that happened for me not to share it. Hopefully I'll get that post up in the next day.
On a sour note... looks like my money transfer didn't work... of course.. nothing is simple and easy in Korea.
