I had a GREAT weekend. Friday night I packed up and basically moved in to Jeff's for the weekend. The plan was to camp out there because it was supposed to be a shitshow of rain all weekend. However, thankfully that changed and we were able to head out on Saturday.
Everyone started asking me what I was doing, because they know that I always plan something.... regardless if I have to go alone. And sure enough 4 other people jumped in on the plans. We headed to Children's Grand Park on Saturday afternoon, which I had been trying to go to for weeks now. The weather was sunny and hot (better than rainy and hot), but the park was surprisingly not busy, by Korean standards at least. We wandered around the huge park, took in the botanical garden, zoo, amusement park, dancing fountains and naked statues. Yes, naked statues in a children's park. Leave it to Korea, where porn is illegal to have naked statues everywhere.
After the park we headed down to the river and boat some tickets for a sunset boat cruise down the Han. With over an hour to kill we grab a couple of beers, sit on some steps near the river and engage in good conversation revolving around Korea, 9/11, and Pearl Harbor (none of which are related of course).
Finally the boat was ready, we grab our seats on the 2nd floor patio of the boat and enjoy the beautiful sunset over the river, with the Seoul skyline and mountains in the background. After the sun set we got another great view of Seoul at night. Dare I say that this boat cruise was even better than the first I went on a few weeks ago, but I'm a sucker for a sunset.
I can't even tell you how perfect my afternoon/evening was. The park and the boat ride made me so happy, and is one of those days that I'll remember long after my time in Korea has passed.
I convinced everyone that we should grab Mexican for dinner at this great little place I had been to a few times. Every time I had brought anyone from the crew there it had been closed, so a few people were skeptical. Thankfully it was open and 8 of us crammed around two small tables and enjoyed delicious burritos. Exhausted after a long day we headed back to Joe's to watch a movie, where I promptly fell asleep.
Sunday looked gloomy and I my busted foot was killing me from spending the previous day on it in crappy shoes, so Jeff and I decided to stay in and do a movie day.. and boy did we. While we watched it rain out the huge windows, we curled up and watched three movies and drank wine. Perfect gloomy Sunday.
I forgot my camera so I gotta wait to get the pictures from Jeff. I'll post them later.
