- the silver drum guys are back and the one that is semi obsessed with me is out in full force. The other day he grabbed me to stop me and show me his teeth, or lack there of, and tell me he had a dentist appointment the following day to fix them. Great, because that was my big concern in life, how you're teeth were doing.
- woke up this morning to no water. Those of you that know me well, know that I can't go in public if I haven't washed my hair that day. Remedy: hat. Thought that I'd get in trouble wearing a hat to work but turns out not only did the kids love it, but my bosses did too. Point to remember... big heads look good in hats.
- on the no water front apparently there was a note in the elevator warning of it, however because it was an entire 8 x 11 sheet in hangeul I didn't read it being as I don't know much of the language. Today when I went to buy bottled water to wash my face and brush my teeth I looked at it again and where do my eyes focus? Right on the word "mool" (i.e.: water) and the date...my master skills were able to infer that (I can figure out an entire conversation from a non-English speaker from a few simple words now... SKILLS). If only I had read it earlier, I would have been saved the trouble.
- gross alert: so in cleaning my apartment I finally open the cupboard which I never go in. This cupboard has my rice cooker, rice and some packages of noodles. Figured that I'd clean it out since it'd be the easiest. Turns out..... the bag of rice wasn't sealed, and summer was so humid that it made a perfect breeding ground for bugs. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwww. I don't know what bugs they were, but gross, gross, gross.
- today I also noticed a different sign in the elevator which I had never paid attention to, but it had red writing so I thought I'd give it a read in my long ride up. Again the only word I understood was the word for garbage, but my guess is that it is a note saying that people have not been recycling properly or throwing recyclables/food in their garbage bags. They garbage people would know this because our garbage bags are labeled based on area. I also think this because I have stopped hoarding things I didn't know where to recycle and hid them in black bags inside my garbage bags. Also I used to throw one bag out a month (not including recycling and food trash), but the past couple weeks I have thrown out 5 in trying to get ready to leave. I have another two tied and ready to go and at least another 5 to go by the time I'm done. Note that these bags aren't the big green bags we have back home but more the size of a Safeway bag. But because you can receive a fine for throwing out recyclables in trash I am choosing to throw out those 7 bags the night or two before I leave. Yes, outsmarting the system... obviously.
-the old man downstairs is still asking me for lunch and coffee, and I adore him, yet refuse to do either. I'm hoping that when I get a friend over to help me with the final move he is the one working and I can get our picture together.
-just over a week and I will finally be free of this effing dust that is EVERYWHERE.
