Korean ER

Sunday had me sitting in the ER. I'll save all the details of how I had to go to two hospitals to find an ER, plus "run" around the second hospital trying to find the ER, let's just say it wasn't easy. Eventually though Jeff (who I dragged with me) and I were sitting amongst screaming children waiting to see a doctor. There were beds right in front of us that had children on IVs and old people lying down. Then a toddler received stitches in his chin right in front of us. I have never ever heard screams like that in my life, I almost threw up.

After a nurse, a doctor, xrays, another doctor, another nurse, a shot in the ass for pain and three days worth of pain meds I was on my way. Took about a total of 2 1/2 hours, but hey, coulda been a lot worse.
The verdict: Not broken. Severe ligament damage. Go see an orthopedic surgeon immediately for a consultation. Don't walk or run on the foot, in fact don't use the foot at all. In three days go to another hospital to get another prescription for pain medication.

Riiiight. Okay. let's go through this..
1. Not broken. Happy about that, last thing I wanted was to have a cast in Korea my last two weeks, and travel 17 hours home with it.
2. Ligament damage. Can't say I'm surprised, I figure I may have had it after the last time I rolled my ankle since it never healed properly. However, I know this is serious, I still breathed a sigh of relief.
3. Orthopedic Surgeon. When I return home I'll go to my doctor and start the process and see where it goes.
4. Don't walk, run, use the foot. Hardly. My job consists of me walking for 6 hours a day. No way around it. Man I wish that I had crutches.
5. 3 days for prescription. What a load of shit. don't use your foot but every three days walk to a clinic/hospital to get it refilled. idiots.

And thus is the story of my ankle. Now to break the bad news to Brit that it's likely I won't be going to her all night DJ party birthday thing this upcoming weekend.
