Okay, here is finally the post on the Scavenger Hunt. I will post a couple stories, some photos and a few videos. I don't think any of them will show just how much fun we had and how much we laughed. My next post will be the list of things that we were given and which ones we actually accomplished.
So the skinny on the Hunt... a Canadian bar in Itaewon (Seoul) was putting it on. There were 13 teams of 6-8 that raced around the city for about 5 hours trying to tackle a list of tasks. We had beautiful weather (which is hard to come by with the Spring we're experiencing here), which made the day even more enjoyable.
Notable things that happened... one of our very firsts tasks that we tackled was to fake an orgasm in a public place (Meg Ryan style via When Harry Met Sally). On of the girls did it standing up with a pole on the subway. It was the most hilarious and embarrassing thing I have ever experienced. We were all dying laughing and none of us could even watch (other than the one who was videoing). The Korean guy right beneath her didn't even look up from his laptop the entire time.. unfazed. We immediately switched subway cars after she finished. We almost won best video with this, came in second! We only got beat out by one team doing the task of slapping one another with a live eel... you can't compete with that.
Another fun experience was also on the subway where we had to pretend to be a bobseld team for the entire time between two stops. We actually had to preform this twice since the first time our video-er failed. The second time we did it we were on a different subway and had the crowd all in it, cheering and clapping. The ajummas (old Korean ladies) clapping for us... until one decided it went on too long and went from clapping to saying "Stop" and shaking her hand at us in a split second. I had a guy on the same car stop me to and ask if we were students and doing some sort of assignment, nope teachers... but sshhhh don't tell anyone, I said. I showed him the list and tried to explain what we were doing... Then I decided that he should help us and had him act out a fake sword death scene with me... including falling on the ground and dying (on both our parts) in the middle of the subway, what a good sport.
Now time for the picture drop.... in no particular order, here are a bunch of shots from the day..
There are a ton more pictures but some I'm not allowed to post on the internet (even if this blog is only for my friends and family), I'm still gonna respect their wishes. That goes for some of the videos too... but I'll post a couple of them.
One team member was had to chug a bottle of soju (like Korean vodka). I was filming and we managed to catch another team mid-task... check it out..
I got a text from the organizer saying to stop where you were and do the worm... of course we were on the subway since that is where we seemed to spend most of our time. So we dropped and gave it our best shot.
Trying to get some Koreans to do "I'm a Little Teapot".. they didn't know it but were good sports. They came and found us later to take our picture.
