On Saturday afternoon, after a slight subway mishap, I met up with Jon and Krista in Itaewon. After a bit of walking around and browsing we stopped for a late lunch at Wolfhound, an Irish pub. The food was okay but nothing special, the beer was delicious... as always.
After Itaewon, Jon and Krista took me to Costco to get some essentials such as cheese, coffee and Baileys. The place was ridiculous, I hated Costco in Regina for how busy it was but times that by 47 and you get Costco on a Saturday evening in Seoul. And the difference is that in Korea people don't adhere to sticking to the right hand side, if you don't push and be slightly obnoxious you don't get anywhere. But I have to admit, after the bagel and cheese that I had last night for dinner and the coffee and Baileys that I had this morning... the trip was worth it.

Saturday evening we went bowling. Now when I went bowling it was disco bowling at the Golden Mile with the small balls and 5 pins, easy and fun. Bowling in Korea consists of all the lights being one, large balls, 10 pins and "crazy" hardcore Korean bowlers - wrist guards and all. I had warned Jon and Krista that I am the world's worst bowler... I think that perhaps I had beginners luck because I won both games!!! I would like to brag that I was awesome, but it was all pure luck. I scored 133 on my first game and 132 on my second... so while the score may not be "great", I beat 100 and that was the only goal that I had for the day.
We had brought in some beer with us in hopes that we could crack a few while bowling. Apparently drinking and bowling is frowned upon here... while drinking until you puke and pass out in the streets is perfectly acceptable. Go figure. So what did we do? Head outside to drink in a real alley of course... obviously a classy thing to do. Then, because something sketchy always happens in an alley, Krista was approached by a very drunk Korean who asked to touch her hair repeatedly, then got on his knees and professed his love.
After our successful alley drinking we headed to the Funky Dunky for a drink and some conversation. We also managed to score a handful of Absolut and Sky stir sticks... and by "we" I mean Jon and Krista. Overall the night was a great time, sure beer/alcohol was had but no one was wasted and even though we headed to bed around 2:00 am (much earlier than my last few Saturday nights) we all woke up feeling fantastic and not a hangover in sight.
